Meet the Write City Team

Tony Cushman

Picture

"What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though." - J. D. Salinger

Bio
Tony has a background in arts-based education, and has served as the Camp Director for several arts camps catering to at-risk youth and children with behavioral disorders. In the summer of 2102, he will be working as the Director of Programming for one of the largest English as a Second Language camps in the country. In his spare time, which seems to be running out, he moonlights as a DJ, and continues to work with Princess Cruises, hosting dance parties for young passengers in many countries warmer than Canada.

Education
Tony Cushman has just finished his Bachelor of Education degree at The University of Ottawa, where he excelled in courses devoted to teaching elementary school children how to write effectively. He received a combined-honors degree in Contemporary Studies and Social Anthropology from the University of King’s College and Dalhousie, writing his honors thesis Money Changes Everything on the way that commercial interests inherent in the rise of the music industry impacted the political aspirations of rock music. In the fall of 2102, Tony plans to begin his Masters of Arts in Education degree, focusing his research on the integration of multimedia remixing techniques in the classroom as a progressive form of media literacy education.
